So, I'm back in Florida having traveled a 10-day road trip throughout the northeast coastal states... a journey that can only be described as "eventful."
The intention was to attend the annual gift basket convention in Rutherford, New Jersey with plans of pausing intermittently along the way to visit family and friends.
As sometimes will happen, Mr. Murphy will see the need to rear his annoying head to interrupt well laid out plans, itineraries and schedules. In spite of that, I was flexible enough to handle it all without undue stress. Going with the flow and leaving it in God's hands was the order of many days.
In any case, I was thrilled to have participated in the convention, meeting and interacting with other gift basket professionals from the US and other countries. So much information was shared among attendees as they discussed the highs, the lows, the challenges and the successes they experienced in doing business each day. The classes were an educational overflow of material that can only be described as bombarding the mind. The industry is indeed expanding and thriving with a plethora of hot trends, new products and innovative designs.
The Fancy Food show, which I didn't attend unfortunately, would have been the icing on the cake. It's the largest trade show which features companies the world over highlighting the best of the best and tastiest of the tastiest gourmet foods, snacks, chocolates, you name it...it was there! For those gift basketeers who did attend the vendor event, I am trusting that they will share their delicious finds with me! I can only hope!
It was great to visit and catch up with family and friends who I hadn't seen in quite some time. I also had the opportunity to attend services at The Brooklyn Tabernacle for an unforgettable and highly inspiring worship experience! That choir is truly exceptional!
My takeaway from this road trip:
think 'outside-of-the-box' in terms of creativity
learn to accept the things I cannot change
travel light to see more sights
I will be sending out another email later this month for you to enter the Post-Summer/ Pre-Fall Contest where products in inventory will be given away. Please check your spam folder to avoid missing it. An announcement will also be posted on social media sites: Facebook, Instagram and Twitter.
